Washington United Christian Academy (WUCA) is a private, non-profit school located in Landover Hills, Maryland. It offers quality Christian education for students attending pre-kindergarten through twelfth grades. WUCA was established in 1977 as a direct result of a personal and life-changing vision of its current principal who sought to provide a spiritual and moral haven for children in the community. A seven-member Board of Directors governs the affairs of WUCA, which employs 12 faculty and staff members. The school serves approximately 100 students who reside in local surrounding communities. WUCA is multiracial and multicultural in its makeup. Many of WUCA's parents make great financial sacrifices to send their children to the school. It is estimated that approximately 28 pastors and their congregations support the efforts of WUCA and derive benefits from its services. These services include after school day care programs, rigorous academic and religious instruction programs, adult family life education programs, SAT tutoring programs, and GED test preparation programs. mainly attracted to the school's high spiritual and academic standards. Washington United Christian Academy supports key activities to build the youth of today into strong citizens of tomorrow. For example, the entire school participates in the annual National Day of Prayer (a nation-wide effort to inform Congress and the public about the benefits of Christian initiatives). |
